China's manganese ore prices seen softening

China's manganese ore prices have shown signs of softening lately. The price of South Africa-origin 36.5% grade manganese ore at North China's Tianjin port under Mysteel's assessment sat at Yuan 36.2/dmtu ($5.2/dmtu) including the 13% VAT as of January 20, down by Yuan 0.3/dmtu from the recent high on January 16, though it was still Yuan 0.2/dmtu higher compared with one week ago.

Prices of silicomanganese (SiMn) in both spot and futures markets weakened in the past week, putting some pressure on domestic manganese ore prices, Mysteel Global learned.
