China's manganese ore prices strengthen, sentiment improves

China's manganese ore prices strengthened over January 7-13, with the price of South Africa-origin 36.5% grade manganese ore at North China's Tianjin port under Mysteel's assessment reaching Yuan 36/dmtu ($5.2/dmtu) including the 13% VAT on January 13, rising by Yuan 0.8/dmtu from one week before.

Sentiment in the domestic manganese ore market improved recently, as major overseas mines raised their offers for ore shipments in February, suggesting higher import costs of Chinese traders. For example, South32, the world's top manganese ore miner headquartered in Perth, Western Australia, has decided to hike its offering price of
