WEEKLY: Firm costs boost China's SiMn prices

China's silicomanganese (SiMn) prices strengthened further during December 29-January 4, as domestic SIMn smelters' production costs stayed firm with the higher prices of manganese ore, Mysteel Global learned.

On January 4, Mysteel assessed the national price of 6517 SiMn at Yuan 5,652/tonne ($809/t) including the 13% VAT, rising by Yuan 44/t from that on December 26. During the same period, the price of South Africa-origin 36.5% grade manganese ore at North China's Tianjin port under Mysteel's assessment increased
