DAILY: China's thermal coal prices jump amid bullish outlook

China's spot thermal coal prices surged on February 24, the first working day following the nine-day Chinese New Year holiday, supported by the rising imported coal prices amid anticipated supply declines from Indonesia.

On February 24, Mysteel assessed the 5,500 kcal/kg NAR spot thermal coal at Yuan 726/tonne ($105.5/t) FOB northern transfer ports with VAT, up Yuan 5/t from February 14, the last working day before the holiday. Prices for 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades posted larger gains of Yuan
