DAILY: China's thermal coal prices continue to rise

China's thermal coal prices extended their upward momentum on February 25, supported mainly by strong demand for high-quality cargoes. Traders at northern transfer ports sharply lifted offers, pushing transaction prices higher, sources said.
On Wednesday, Mysteel learned from portside sources that offers for 5,500 kcal/kg NAR coal were largely at Yuan 725-735/tonne ($105.9-107.4/t) FOB northern ports with VAT, while 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades were quoted at Yuan 650-660/t and Yuan 560-570/t, respectively, all rising by around Yuan 10/t from
