China's domestic iron ore production expected to recover in 2026

According to the International Trade Administration, According to Mysteel's survey of 433 mining companies nationwide, cumulative concentrate production from January to December 2025 is projected to reach 274.78 million tonnes, a year-on-year decrease of 3.26% (Fig.1). Based on the sample coverage rate (94.36%) of the total output of 301 million tonnes in 2024, the 2025 nationwide full-caliber concentrate production in China is projected at 294 million tonnes, representing a slight year-on-year decline of 2.33%.
