On April 3, the price of electrolytic cobalt slumped Yuan 14,159/tonne to Yuan 403,227-404,864/tonne from the previous trading day. In addition, the prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride remained unchanged at Yuan 95,000/t-98,000/t and 114,000-119,000/t respectively.For cobalt sulfate, supported firmly by raw material costs, mainstream smelters showed a clear intention to hold prices firm. However, downstream manufacturers maintained strong pressure for price reductions, and the prevailing market transaction price remained around Yuan 93,000/tonne. For cobalt chloride, transaction prices stabilized at approximately Yuan 115,000/tonne. Some producers opted to use lower-priced cobalt sulfate as a raw material, while others lacking raw material supplies suspended operations for maintenance. Meanwhile, downstream Co3O4 producers demonstrated weak off-take capacity, and market inquiries remained scarce. As a result, both market offers and transaction prices moved lower.
