On April 1, the price of electrolytic cobalt declined Yuan 1,159/tonne to Yuan 419,773-421,455/tonne from the previous trading day. In addition, the prices of cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride continued to remain unchanged at Yuan 95,000/t-98,000/t and 114,000-119,000/t respectively.Supported by strong raw material costs, mainstream smelters had a clear intention to hold prices for cobalt sulfate, while downstream manufacturers showed strong resistance to price increases. As a result, mainstream transaction prices remained around Yuan 93,000/tonne, while that of cobalt chloride remained stable at approximately Yuan 115,000/tonne. Some producers are opting for low-priced cobalt sulfate as raw materials, while others facing raw material shortages have suspended operations for maintenance. Meanwhile, downstream Co3O4 manufacturers show weak purchasing capacity, with limited market inquiries, leading to lower market quotations and transaction prices.
