IEA: Global coal demand growth slows to 0.4% in 2025

Global coal demand in 2025 grew 0.4%, or roughly 30 million tonnes, on year, coming in well below the 1.4% rise seen in 2024 and extending a gradually moderating growth trend since 2021, the International Energy Agency reported in its Global Energy Review on April 20.
