China's economy began the year on a positive footing. Given external uncertainties and persistent domestic challenges, attention has turned to the direction of macroeconomic policy in the period ahead. The Political Bureau meeting of the Communist Party Central Committee held on April 28 underscored the need to precisely and effectively implement a more proactive fiscal policy and a moderately loose monetary policy. It emphasized making full use of macroeconomic policy tools to strengthen policy coordination and systematically respond to external shocks and emerging risks.
