CBOT soybean futures fell for six consecutive sessions to a four-month low. On one hand, favorable U.S. weather conditions exerted pressure, with good crop progress and expectations of beneficial rainfall in the Midwest fueling strong prospects for a bumper new crop. Funds continued to sell off, significantly reducing long positions, while technical selling further weighed on the market. On the other hand, pressure from bumper South American production combined with sluggish U.S. soybean export demand to dampen market sentiment. U.S. soybean export demand remains in its seasonal lull. According to the weekly Export Sales Report released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), net sales of U.S. soybeans for the current marketing year stood at 276,852 tonnes for the week ending May 28, down 8% from the previous week and below market expectations. Significant fundamental pressure further amplified the downward trend.
