CBOT soybean futures closed slightly lower, mainly because favorable overall crop weather and strong crop growth in the U.S. outweighed support from rising crude oil prices. However, USDA data showed that the U.S. soybean planting rate was 87%, below market expectations of 89%, and the good-to-excellent rating was 66%, below market expectations of 68%, both providing support to soybean prices. Additionally, export inspection figures met expectations, private exporters reported new large-sized sales, and crushing margins rebounded significantly, all of which provided price support. The U.S. Climate Prediction Center indicated that the probability of an El Nio event forming by the end of July has risen to 82%, with a 67% chance of evolving into a "Super El Nio" by 2027. Overall, downside room for CBOT soybean prices is limited in the short term.
