CBOT front-month futures closed at 1116.75 cent/bushel for soybeans (down 5.50 cent/bushel) and 74.69 cent/pound for soybean oil (up 0.55cent/pound). Recent rapid US soybean planting progress has led the market to price in expectations of a bumper US crop, keeping the broader soy complex generally weak. Domestic spot prices fell in line with the overseas market, while basis quotes remained relatively stable. Trading activity was concentrated in forward contracts for JuneSeptember 2026 and October 2026January 2027, with near-month spot transactions remaining quiet. Currently, crushers are primarily executing previously signed contracts, while downstream end-users maintain hand-to-mouth purchases. Domestic soybean supply remains ample overall, and soybean oil inventories continue to accumulate. However, some support comes from export demand, partially offsetting the bearish factors. Soybean oil spot basis is expected to remain range-bound in the near term.
