MONTHLY: China's crude stainless output rebounds in May, CRC output falls

China's crude stainless steel output rebounded in May, a consequence of the better profit margins enjoyed by mills, according to Mysteel's latest survey results.

Crude stainless output from the 43 Chinese mills under Mysteel's regular tracking totaled 3.82 million tonnes last month, up 1.9% month-on-month and by 10.2% from May last year, Mysteel's data showed. As stainless steel prices climbed last month, mill margins improved, a factor that encouraged producers to ramp up production,
