Dragged down by falling crude oil prices, benchmark crude palm oil futures on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange (BMD) came under pressure and retreated. Currently, Malaysian palm oil remains in its seasonal production increase phase. Before the arrival of peak production season, market focus is on two aspects: first, expectations of weather speculation surrounding El Nio, and second, the potential impact of the ceasefire situation between the U.S. and Iran in the Middle East on crude oil prices. Dalian palm oil futures also faced pressure after a brief rebound and experienced a pullback and adjustment. On the spot front, due to substantial palm oil procurement shipments in the earlier period, port arrivals are expected to face significant pressure in June and July. In the short term, spot basis is expected to maintain a weak consolidation pattern.
