Last week, the cobalt sulfate and cobalt chloride markets largely continued their weak consolidation, with market prices showing no significant changes. On the cobalt sulfate front, trading activity remained tepid. While major producers kept their offers steady, some of them made the low-priced shipments due to sluggish demand and financial pressures. As for cobalt chloride, downstream demand for Co3O4 stayed persistently weak, and the substitution effect from cheaper cobalt sulfate further constrained the market, leading to extremely limited trading volumes. Midweek, the DRC announcement to reclaim unused export quotas from the first half of the year provided some boost to market sentiment. However, no substantial shifts occurred in the actual supply-demand landscape, as downstream buyers largely maintained a wait-and-see approach, keeping their procurement pace slow. Overall, the cobalt salt market continues to consolidate near the bottom.
