DAILY: China's thermal coal slides as Guangxi floods boost hydro generation

China's thermal coal market extended its decline on July 6, as a severe floods in South China's Guangxi province boosted hydropower generation, tempering coal-fired power operations and weighing further on coal demand.

On Monday, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at northern ports at Yuan 815/tonne ($120/t) FOB with VAT, down Yuan 7/t from last Friday. The 5,000 kcal/kg and 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grades each fell Yuan 8/t to Yuan 722/t and Yuan 623/t, respectively. At ports along the Yangtze
