China's manganese ore prices weaken further

China's manganese ore prices continued to weaken during the period of July 8-14, with the price of South Africa-origin 36.5% grade manganese ore at North China's Tianjin port under Mysteel's assessment sitting at Yuan 36.3/dmtu ($5.4/dmtu) including the 13% VAT on July 14, slipping by Yuan 0.2/dmtu from one week earlier.

The persistent weakness was mainly blamed on pressure from higher manganese ore inventories at China's major ports and the lackluster demand from manganese alloy smelters, Mysteel Global learned. On July 9, Mysteel assessed the total tonnage of manganese ore stocked at the major ports at 5.92 million tonnes, climbing for
