DAILY: China's thermal coal soars as coastal consumption hits two-week high

China's thermal coal rally stretched to a fourth straight session on July 16, with coastal utility coal burn hitting a fresh two-week peak amid ongoing heat, while tightening pithead supply also underpinned the rebound.

On Thursday, Mysteel assessed 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at northern ports at Yuan 815/tonne ($120.4/t) FOB with VAT, up Yuan 5/t from Wednesday. The 5,000 kcal/kg NAR grade also rose Yuan 5/t to Yuan 725/t, while the 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grade gained Yuan 6/t to Yuan 633/t. At
