Indonesian thermal coal HBA prices mixed for H2 July, high-CV grade lifted

Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has set its Harga Batubara Acuan (HBA) thermal coal reference prices for the second half of July mostly higher, extending the multi-month uptrend for high- and low-CV grades, according to the latest release on July 15. The ministry pegged the mid-CV category slightly lower, however.

The HBA for 6,322 kcal/kg GAR coal – the benchmark high-CV grade – was set at $131.85/tonne for H2 July, up 4.2% from $126.58/t in H1 July and 6.4% above the $123.91/t set for H2 June. This marks the highest level for the flagship index since the ESDM began
