DAILY: China's coking coal market softens as coke price cuts loom

China's coking coal prices extended declines on July 20, with buying activity staying sluggish and market sentiment further weighed down by the prospect of met coke price cuts, sources said.

On Monday, Mysteel Coking Coal Index (MCCI), which tracks coking coal prices nationwide in China, stood at Yuan 1,692.8/tonne ($250.2/t) including the 13% VAT, down Yuan 1.3/t from the previous session. The price drop came amid tepid buying interest in yesterday's coking coal online auctions, where the failure rate climbed
