GACC: China's coking coal imports soar in June amid domestic shortage

China's coking coal imports in June soared 34.1% from a year earlier to 12.18 million tonnes, marking the second-highest monthly volume so far this year. The figure also registered an increase of 9.3% from May, according to the latest data from the country's General Administration of Customs (GACC).

The import value amounted to $1.39 billion last month, surging by 61.6% on year and 11.9% on month. The import price for June averaged $113.9/tonne, climbing by 20.5% from the year ago level and hitting a new high since February last year, as per the Customs data. Driving the surge
