MYSTEEL: China thermal coal output recovers, but demand still supports prices

Thermal coal production has recovered across major producing regions in China, yet prices continue to climb as the market remains driven more by consumption strength, Mysteel Global observes.

According to Mysteel's latest weekly survey of 462 thermal coal mines in major producing regions during July 31-August 6, average capacity utilization rose to 89%, from 87.7% a week earlier. Daily output increased 1.5% week on week to 5.37 million tonnes/day, slightly above the year-to-date average of 5.36 million
