Tin prices fell on August 11. According to Mysteel, as of 15:30, the traded price of 1# tin ingot in the Shanghai market stood at Yuan 423,500–428,000/t, averaging Yuan 425,750/t, decreasing by Yuan 1,250/t. In terms of market trading, as prices declined in the afternoon, buying interest from downstream enterprises picked up and transactions between traders also occurred. Overall spot trading activity improved, though it remained constrained by limited growth in end-user orders. On the macro front, uncertainty over navigation prospects in the Strait of Hormuz pushed energy prices higher and heightened inflation concerns, weighing on tin prices. Attention now turns to the upcoming release of U.S. July CPI data. In the short term, under the pressure of macro factors, tin prices are expected to fluctuate with a bearish bias.
