CBOT soybean futures edged higher on Monday, with market participants adjusting positions ahead of the upcoming USDA monthly supply/demand report. The USDA's post-market crop progress report showed that U.S. soybean good-to-excellent ratings fell to 62% as of August 10, down 1 percentage point from the previous week and significantly below last year's 68% the lowest for this time of year in three years. On the weather front, widespread rainfall is expected across most of the Midwest, which should benefit pod filling and grain development. However, drought coverage remains sizable, leaving lingering concerns. On the export side, U.S. soybean export inspections totaled 399,000 tonnes for the week ending August 6, up 15% week-over-week, with Chinese buyers continuing to purchase new-crop U.S. soybeans.
