The lithium carbonate prices maintained momentum last Friday, firmly supported by sustained destocking along the industry chain, as well as robust demand approaching the traditional seasonal high. When August LFP cathode production scheduling indicated a monthly growth of around 5%, the September production is projected to further increase.
Over the medium term, the lithium carbonate balance sheet is expected to sustain the inventory drawdown through the second half of the year, with the year-end industry inventory days falling to relatively low levels, providing medium-term price support. The recent price uptick has prompted converters to step up shipments. With spot availability rising, the resulting pressure on prices will be an important factor to watch in the near term.
