ICE canola futures fell notably, dragging rapeseed oil night session lower. Recently, the U.S. imposition of tariffs on Canada has raised concerns over Canada's future rapeseed exports. Additionally, the Canadian Ministry of Agriculture raised its canola production forecast, fueling bearish sentiment. As a result, ICE canola declined, weakening import cost support. On the spot side, factory transactions remained thin, but domestic operating rates held at around 30%. Rapeseed oil inventories continued to contract and remained at relatively low levels year-on-year. Moreover, crushers were mostly fulfilling previously signed contracts, coupled with ongoing reserve delivery obligations. In the short term, spot rapeseed oil basis levels are expected to remain firm.
