China's lithium carbonate prices kept rangebound. On the fundamentals, Mysteel's survey showed that, while the actual lithium carbonate production in August was below early-month forecast, the September production will likely rise 9.7% month-on-month based on available production scheduling. On the demand end, the LFP cathode production in September is anticipated to exceed 600,000 tonnes, keeping the monthly supply-demand balance in deficit.
Still, it is worth noting that the GFEX warrants has broken above 45,000 lots recently, putting pressure on lithium carbonate prices. In addition, the consumption tax on lithium-ion batteries officially took effect on September 1, and its impact on future demand is worth attention.
