DAILY: China's fourth round of met coke hikes gains partial acceptance

China's metallurgical coke market held firm on September 1, as producers initiated a fourth round of price hikes amid solid fundamentals and quickly won acceptance from some northern steel mills. The market is expected to extend its uptrend in the near term, Mysteel notes.

Mysteel Coke Index (MCI) CDQ, which tracks China's national dry-quenched quasi-first-grade met coke prices, was unchanged at Yuan 2,107.9/tonne ($313.64/t) on Tuesday. The MCI CWQ for wet-quenched quasi-first-grade met coke rose Yuan 25.3/t to Yuan 1,946.4/t, mainly reflecting some producers' price adjustments on a ten-day or monthly basis. On September
