Indonesia's July coal export volumes slip 6.6% YoY, but value jumps 32% on firmer prices

Indonesia's coal exports of all types totalled 38.94 million tonnes in July, down 6.6% from a year earlier and by 2.8% from June, according to data released by Statistics Indonesia (BPS). However, export value moved the other way, surging 32.4% on year to $3.03 billion.

Based on the value and volume, Mysteel Global calculated the average realised export price at $77.74/t, rising 5.1% from June and 41.8% from a year earlier. The price marks the highest since July 2023. The volume decline follows just a one-month recovery, June shipments having risen above the prior-year level
