On September 8, the market price of electrolytic cobalt declined Yuan 5,000/tonne to Yuan 297,591-300,091/tonne. In addition, the market price of cobalt chloride remained flat at Yuan 83,000-85,000/tonne, while that of cobalt sulfate moved down Yuan 3,000/tonne to 65,000/t-67,000/tonne.The anticipated traditional "Golden September" peak-season recovery has failed to materialize, with downstream demand recovery lagging behind expectations. Battery manufacturers, in an effort to restore their own profit margins, have continued to exert downward pressure on upstream raw material prices. Meanwhile, downstream producers of cobalt products such as Co3O4 are facing sluggish sales of their own outputs, prompting them to adopt an extremely cautious stance towards feedstock procurement, with purchases limited to only essential spot restocking on a hand-to-mouth basis.
