On September 2, the market price of electrolytic cobalt rose Yuan 3,000/tonne to Yuan 303,591-306,091/tonne. Moreover, the market prices of cobalt chloride and cobalt sulfate remained stable at Yuan 83,000-85,000/tonne and 68,000/t-70,000/tonne respectively.The cobalt salt market remained in a subdued and stable stalemate yesterday, with prices essentially unchanged from the previous day, yet trading sentiment stayed notably quiet.The market featured quoted prices without actual transactions. Although cobalt chloride was offered in the range of Yuan 83,000-84,000/tonne, very few deals were concluded. On the cobalt sulfate side, downstream participants largely adopted a wait-and-see stance, making it difficult to see any meaningful volume expansion.Demand-side weakness continued to be the key constraint. Downstream consumers of cobalt chloride, such as Co3O4 and lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) producers, showed extremely low procurement appetite due to their own poor order books.
