On September 1, the market price of electrolytic cobalt slumped Yaun 5,000/tonne to Yuan 300,591-303,091/tonne. In addition, the market prices of cobalt chloride and cobalt sulfate remained stable at Yuan 83,000-85,000/tonne and 68,000/t-70,000/tonne respectively.The overall market atmosphere remained subdued, with particularly weak trading in the cobalt chloride segment. Although offers were quoted in the range of Yuan 83,000-84,000/tonne, actual transactions were hardly concluded. The cobalt sulfate market also faced downstream wait-and-see sentiment, making it difficult to scale up trading volumes.Demand remained the core factor constraining the market. Downstream consumers of cobalt chloride (such as Co3O4 and lithium cobalt oxide producers) showed very poor purchasing enthusiasm due to their own weak order books. Meanwhile, downstream buyers of cobalt sulfate only made limited restocking purchases.
