CBOT soybean futures, with the November contract as the front-month, closed at 1,292.25 cents per bushel, up 5.75 cents, rebounding from a six-week low, mainly supported by speculative short covering and technical buying. The USDA October supply and demand report was bearish: it raised 2026/27 U.S. soybean production to 4.562 billion bushels, above last month's forecast of 4.535 billion bushels; raised the average yield to 53.1 bushels per acre, above last month's forecast of 52.8 bushels and the market expectation of 52.8 bushels; and raised ending stocks to 315 million bushels, above last month's forecast of 310 million bushels. After the report was released, U.S. soybeans briefly fell to a six-week low, but short covering subsequently drove prices higher. In addition, rainy weather in late September affected harvest progress and quality, also providing some support to the market.
