CBOT soybean futures' main November contract fell for the eighth consecutive trading session, but the decline narrowed to nearly flat, hitting a two-month low. Dry weather has accelerated harvesting, and the expectation of a record U.S. soybean crop continues to materialize. As of October 16, the U.S. soybean harvest rate rose to 64%, basically catching up with the five-year average, while the good-to-excellent rating held steady at 57%, with no obvious downward revision to yields, releasing the pressure from the concentrated arrival of new-crop soybeans. Supporting factors lie in China's sixth consecutive trading day of purchasing U.S. soybeans, with cumulative sales of 3.16 million tonnes; in the week ending October 15, 64.02% of U.S. soybean export inspections flowed to mainland China. In addition, Brazil's planting progress stands at 15.6%, higher than 11.1% in the same period last year and the five-year average of 15.2%.
