DAILY: China's thermal coal gains further, yet trades stay thin

Spot thermal coal prices at the Chinese northern transfer ports rose for a sixth straight session on October 14, but the move overstated the market's strength as offers barely moved and deals remained thin.

On Wednesday, Mysteel assessed the benchmark 5,500 kcal/kg NAR thermal coal at Yuan 1,016/tonne ($151.8/t) FOB northern ports with VAT, up Yuan 6/t on day, while the 5,000 kcal/kg NAR grade also gained Yuan 6/t to Yuan 919/t and the 4,500 kcal/kg NAR grade rose Yuan 5 to Yuan
