Pressure is coming from two sides: the U.S. new-crop harvest is entering its final stretch, with the harvest completion rate reaching 79% in the week ended October 25above the five-year average of 77%placing seasonal selling pressure at its strongest realization window; and after Brazilian President Lula's election victory, the real depreciated sharply by more than 10%, with Brazilian soybeans being supplied to the global market at lower U.S. dollar quotes and continuing to squeeze U.S. soybean export share. The benchmark January contract settled at 1,238 cents per bushel on Wednesday, failing to hold early-session gains, with speculative fund liquidation the direct source of selling pressure.
