Tin prices rose before retreating on Nov 5, with the price center slightly higher. Mysteel's survey showed Shanghai market transaction prices at 15:30 at Yuan 357,000–363,000/t, averaging Yuan 360,000/t, up Yuan 4,000/t from the previous trading day. In terms of market trading, downstream buying interest was low as prices moved up, and end-user' orders showed no clear increase, leaving spot trading quiet. In the night session, tin fell 2.96% to a low of Yuan 337,400/t, dragged down by weak AI/semiconductor stocks; a large-scale selloff in U.S. chip stocks sent the Nasdaq down more than 5.5%, sharply cooling global risk appetite. Near term, the U.S. midterm elections are affecting market sentiment and, in particular, heightening doubts over AI industry policy, which is expected to put downward pressure on tin prices. Tin prices are therefore expected to trade rangebound with a weak bias.
