WEEKLY: China’s seaborne coking coal price keeps stable

Prices of seaborne coking coal destined for China were stable last week as market activity had cooled. In contrast to the warm demand for coking coal from Chinese end-users, the lukewarm seaborne market over June 15-19 seemed to reflect the country’s continuing tough controls on coal imports, according to sources.

As of June 19, Mysteel’s imported coal price for premium low-volatile coking coal had increased slightly on week by $0.5/tonne to reach $120/t CFR North China. Mysteel’s price for domestically mined premium low-sulphur (lower than 0.6%) coking coal was unchanged on week at Yuan 1,280.6/t including the 13% VAT,
