China's Jan-Sept coking coal imports dive 41% to 35 mln t

Over January-September, China's total coking coal imports plunged 40.9% on year to 35 million tonnes, among which the tonnage for September declined 35.3% on year or down 7.2% on month to 4.3 million tonnes, as higher imports from North American and Russia for Septemer and in the first nine months only managed to partially offset the decines from Mongolia and Australia, according to the data from the country's General Administration of Customs (GACC).

For September alone, the U.S. stayed the top coking coal supplier to China with the volume up 20.9% on month to 1.5 million tonnes, and the volume amounted to 7.1 million tonnes over January-September, which was nearly ten times of the volume a year ago, GACC data showed. U.S. coal
