CONF: Small China miners have big share of concs growth

Production of iron ore concentrates among China’s small- and medium-sized mining enterprises rose by 11.6 million tonnes on year over this year’s January-September period, accounting for a huge 87% of the increase in total concentrates output during the period, Lei Pingxi, chief engineer of Metallurgical Mines’ Association of China (MMAC), told delegates at Mysteel’s 2019 Steel Value Chain Derivatives Summit in Xiamen, Southeast China’s Fujian province on Thursday. The enterprises include domestic iron ore beneficiation plants, Lei noted.

Over this year’s first nine months, China produced a total of 199.8 million tonnes of iron ore concentrates, up by 13.3 million tonnes or 7.1% on year, MMAC data shows.
