Nippon Steel to merge Thai's downstream plants by April

Nippon Steel, Japan's largest integrated mill, will merge its two steel subsidiaries in Map Ta Phut, Rayong of Thailand by April 2022 for efficiency and customer experience enhancement, it announced on November 30. NS-Siam United Steel (NS-SUS) is with 1 million tonnes/year of cold-rolling (CR) and 360,000 t/y hot-dipped galvanizing capacities, and Siam Tinplate (STP) is hosting 140,000 t/year of tinplate and 120,000t/y tin-free steel.
