East China focuses on alkane deep processing replying on its superior geographical location, and the alkane deep processing capacity shows an expantion in 2023, with a total of 1.65 million t/y of PDH capacities coming on line.
Separately, Yanchang Zhongran's 600,000 t/y PDH plant in Taixing started operations in May, marking the successful completion of Yanchang Zhongran Taixing's light hydrocarbon deep processing project.
Zhejiang Huahong New Material's Phase II PDH plant, with the capacity of 600,000 t/y, came on line in July. The company rented Chenshan Port for unloading and storing feedstock due to the significant increase in feedstock usage for its two PDH plants. After the completion of the submarine pipeline, the first shipment of imported goods arrived on August 24.
Jiangsu Ruiheng's 600,000 t/y PDH plant was put into operation in Ocotber, which mainly used imported propane as feedstock.
In addition, Sanjiang Chemical put the 1.25 million t/y light hydrocarbon cracker into operation in May, which was equipped with Jianghua Energy's 150,000 cubic meter low-temperature propane tank to ensure the storage of feedstock.
However, there was no new production capacity for olefin deep processing in East China.
Looking on 2024, in alkane deep processing, there are still 4 PDH plants with a total capacity of 2.76 million t/y planned to be put into operation in East China. However, new projects' delay is very normal and may relate with margins.
In terms of olefin deep processing, Fujian Shengtong Chemical had a construction plan for an alkylation unit in the early stage, but according to market news, it has come to a halt. Therefore, there will still be no new production capacity for olefin deep processing in East China.
