China's lithium carbonate production reported a monthly fall of 17% and stood at 36,800 tonnes in February, primarily due to extensive overhaul during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holiday when the demand was weak, as well as the delayed production resumption in Jiangxi Province due to the anticipated environmental protection inspection initiated by the central government, per Mysteel survey.
It is expected that China's lithium carbonate will rebound 13.8% month on month at 41,900 tonnes in March with the smelters gradually resuming the production. But the growth is likely to be partly offset by the overhaul of some smelters in Sichuan Province.

China's lithium hydroxide production showed a monthly fall of 4.7% and stood at 18,200 tonnes in February, primarily because most smelters maintained low capacity utilization rates on poor demand during the CNY holiday.
The production is projected to rise 4.4% MoM at 19,000 tonnes in March as the downstream players will stockpile after depleting the stocks.
