Chinese acetone production reached 262,000 tonnes in May, increased by 14,000 tonnes or 5.65% from last month, mainly because of the restarting of units with the operating rate climbing to 71.34% (up 1.57 percentage points on month and 4.24 percentage points on year).

Meanwhile, there were nine acetone units closed for maintenance with the total capacity reaching 1,170,000 tonnes/year, leading to a loss of about 71,900 tonnes in May.

According to OilChem, there are six enterprises which have decided to overhaul units in June, with the acetone capacity totaling 690,000 t/y. Moreover, some undetermined unit maintenance plans also need to be paid attention to.
As a whole, the acetone production is projected to keep largely stable at around 261,900 tonnes in June in China, with an operating rate of about 73.69%.
