GACC: China's H1 coal imports rise 12.5% YoY

China imported 250 million tonnes of all types of coal including lignte in the first half of this year, marking a 12.5% rise against the corresponding period of 2023, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs China (GACC) on July 12.
In June alone, coal imports reached 44.6 million tonnes, up by 11.9% from a year earlier, and 1.8% higher than imports in May, the data showed.   The year-on-year increase in H1 coal imports reflects China's strong demand at a time when domestic coal production had declined. From January to May,
