China announces low-carbon retrofit plan for coal power units

China's state economic planning body has unveiled a plan to retrofit existing coal-fired power generation units and construct new ones with advanced emission control technology from 2024 to 2027 as part of the country's ongoing efforts to curb carbon emissions and achieve its net zero target.
