China's lithium carbonate production stood at 72,300 tonnes in December, up 8.3% MoM, per Mysteel survey. The rise was primarily driven by significant capacity growth at JiuLing Lithium's new production line and Yahua Lithium's gradual ramp-up in output. Additionally, LPEC, a joint venture between Lopal Tech and CATL, started small-scale production using stockpiled and externally sourced mica raw materials. Production in Qinghai remained stable, while some leading recycling enterprises ramped up capacity utilization rates toward year-end to meet annual targets.

China's lithium carbonate production will likely fall 17.34% MoM at 59,800 tonnes in January. This decrease is anticipated due to China's producers planning to suspend operations for equipment maintenance during the Chinese New Year holiday.
