IAI: Global primary Al output reaches 73 million t in 2024, up 3% YoY

Production of primary aluminum ingots worldwide increased by 3.02% on year to reach 6.24 million tonnes in December 2024, according to data from the International Aluminium Institute (IAI).

The December result meant than during 2024, primary aluminum production globally reached 72.76 million tonnes, higher by 2.89% from 2023, according to the IAI. During last month, China stayed in first place among all major primary aluminum smelting countries and regions worldwide, with its output rising by 4.52% on year to an estimated 3.57 million tonnes.
