Tangshan mills resume production after emergency curbs lifted

The Tangshan city government's lifting of its emergency production curbs on polluting industries in the city including steelmaking on March 12 has seen mills quickly step up output, Mysteel Global learned.

Tangshan, the top steelmaking hub in North China's Hebei province, had issued a level II emergency warning on heavy air pollution on March 6 that mandated production curbs. However, some local re-rollers had received an oral order from the municipal government to halt their operations days before the official
